If you’re familiar with the people who work at our Indianapolis, IN Ford dealership and our parent company, the Tom Wood Automotive Group, you know how committed we are to giving back to our community. In fact, we believe our dedication to our community is one of the reasons why Tom Wood Automotive Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

One of the great things about representing the Ford brand is that the automaker shares our commitment to giving back. The car manufacturer recently demonstrated its dedication to helping others when the Ford Motor Company Fund partnered with NBC’s “Give” television series to lend support to military veterans.

During a recent episode of NBC’s television program, the Ford Motor Company Fund gave $15,000 to the Armed Services Arts Partnership, or ASAP, and $10,000 to Bunker Labs DC. The two non-profits, which are working to help servicemen and women make the transition from military to civilian life, were surprised by the gifts they received from the Ford Motor Company Fund.

Jim Vella, the president of the Ford Motor Company Fund, discussed how the fund’s donation should be split between the two small charities with the host of “Give,” Blair Underwood. “Most important is community need — you always want to meet the greatest need,” Vella told Underwood. “You make some of the decision with your head and some with your heart.”

“This is incredibly humbling,” said Sam Pressler, founder, ASAP. “We will be able to take this check and empower hundreds of veterans to come home and find a voice and purpose in the community. It’s incredible. We’re so grateful.”

“We’re all going to use it,” said Todd Connor, founder, Bunker Labs. “This will bring our whole community together.”

This isn’t the first time the Ford brand has provided support for military veterans. In fact, we’re proud to tell you that Ford Motor Company has supported veterans for over 95 years. We’re just as proud to tell you that the Ford Motor Company Fund has been working with non-profits for 67 years. The fund continues to provide support for programs and charities that have a positive impact on the lives of military veterans in various ways, including scholarships, job training, medical transportation, and additional transition services.
