Earlier this month, the Ford brand gave the world a sneak peek at the 2018 Ford F-150 and we really, really like what we saw. While everyone at our Indianapolis, IN Ford dealership had heard that there would be a light-duty diesel engine in the pickup truck’s engine lineup, what we didn’t realize was that just about every engine in the 2018 Ford F-150 engine lineup would be new or newly updated. We also didn’t know that the brand we represent would be offering you a selection of seven different, striking grilles.
Most of the new grilles feature a two-bar look that runs along the front of the truck, making it seem as if the 2018 Ford F-150 has a wider stance. A few of the grilles have a comparatively open layout and the grille on the Limited trim fills that open space with attention-grabbing latticework. The reason for the new grilles? To create a means to visually differentiate between the different 2018 Ford F-150 models.
The 2018 Ford F-150 has two new sets of headlights, one for the lower trims and another LED set for the higher trims. No matter which headlights a 2018 Ford F-150 has, the lights will reach more toward the center of the pickup. The truck’s grilles seem to sit lower, almost on top of the truck’s new bumper. The Ford brand introduced six new wheel designs, each of which is between 17 and 22 inches in diameter.
The Ford brand made some changes to the truck’s rear as well. Where the truck’s rear lights used to look like one piece, there is now a split between their upper and lower portions. The truck has two new tail gates, too. Tail gates on the lower trims will have a creased trapezoid appearance with F-150 running across the lower part of the tail gate. The F-150 insignia is left off of the tail gates on the higher trims and the upper part of the tail gate is covered in what looks like an eye-catching, high-end applique.
