The Children's Museum of Indianapolis

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis cultivates learning experiences for children across the arts, sciences, and humanities with its exhibits and dedicated staff. They offer a full calendar of events that provide exciting cultural and educational experiences for kids of all ages. Exhibits teach about the history of Indiana, like the All Aboard! Exhibit that transports kids back to the 1980s when Reuben Wells scaled the steepest railroad in the U.S. There are also art exhibits like the Lilly Theater, which has plays designed for all ages, and the five stories high Fireworks of Glass exhibit, featuring art by Dale Chihuly.

Canal and White River State Park

The Canal and White River State Park is a public park in downtown Indianapolis with various attractions for the whole family. This park is 250 acres, featuring walking paths, views of the downtown skyline, a children's play park, and public art installations. The Central Canal runs through the park, with museums, attractions, and celebrations surrounding its length. It also offers water activities like gondola rides and is host to the Flurries on the Canal performance series, which puts on events throughout the spring.

The canal walk is a 3-mile loop, where you can also rent bicycles, surreys, and Segways, depending on your interests and fitness levels. The park is open from 7 a.m.to 8 p.m.

Holliday Park

Holliday Park is a 94-acre city park on the north side of Indianapolis. This sprawling public park has more than enough attractions to entertain your kids. The nature center focuses on the natural and environmental history of Marion County, with two classrooms worth of hands-on activities to aid your kids in their passion for ecological discovery. The park also has a state-of-the-art playground with two slides, a rock-climbing wall, and several bridges, tunnels, and swings, all located near picnic tables where you can eat, refuel, and keep an eye on your kids. 

Twisted Room Escapes

Twisted Room Escapes is an escape room experience near Carson Square in Indianapolis. An escape room is an activity for the whole family. You sign up for a specific amount of time on the clock to solve the puzzle. Then you enter a room filled with puzzles and games your team must figure out to unlock the door. You win if you can unlock the door before the time limit is up. Escape rooms typically have a storyline that the puzzles and games all refer to, creating an immersive adventure experience. 

Twisted Room Escapes prides itself on creating unique and exciting experiences for its customers, with fresh spins on their puzzles and games for each room. There are seven rooms with fun themes, like a submarine or detective agency. The center currently accepts only private bookings, and it has open events from 5:30-10 p.m. Friday, 2-10:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2-6 p.m. Sunday. Sports Legends Experience

The Sports Legends Experience is an outdoor adventure park focused on athletics and the sports legacy that is such an essential part of Indianapolis. It is connected to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. This park includes 12 outdoor sports experiences and three indoor exhibits centered on practicing and understanding physical fitness. As most of the attractions are outside, you may want to dress for the weather, but regardless, make sure you and your family wear exercise clothes. 

The attractions include basketball hoops, street hockey rinks, soccer pitches, and mini-golfs designed for toddlers or children. You can purchase your ticket for the Sports Legends Experience with your ticket to the children's museum. Members of the children's museum also have access to the Sports Legends Experience. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m., and it offers discounted tickets from 4-8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Pirates Quest

Pirate's Quest Mini Golf is a course on 96th Street in Indianapolis. Mini golf is a great way to spend the afternoon in the spring because it's outside, the courses are perfect for adults and children, and the whimsical setting often makes for an entertaining experience. This course is particularly amusing because of its pirate theme. It has two 18-hole courses, which can keep the experience exciting while ensuring it's never too crowded for your family. You can also grab some snacks before or after you play.

For children younger than 12 or seniors older than 60, you can get a ticket for $6.75. For the rest of the family, tickets are $8, making Pirate's Quest a reasonably priced outdoor activity. You can call ahead to make a reservation for your game, or you can walk in any time between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. to see if they have any available space.
