2017 Ford Explorer Details
The 2017 Ford Explorer is available in several trims, including the Base, XLT, Limited, XLT Sport, and Platinum. All trims have a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard on the Sport and Platinum trims and optional on the lower trims which come with standard front-wheel drive.
The trim you choose to buy or lease when you're at our Ford dealership in Indianapolis, IN will determine which engine and standard features your vehicle will have. If you get a Base, XLT, or Limited trim, your five-door SUV will have a standard 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine which produces 290 hp at 6,500 rpm and 255 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. A 2.3-liter four cylinder engine with EcoBoost is available as an option for these trims. This engine generates 280 hp at 5,600 rpm and 310 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 rpm.
If you get a Sport or Platinum trim instead, your 2017 Ford Explorer will have a turbocharged 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine. This engine produces 365 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm.
2017 Ford Explorer Safety and Special Features
The Base trim's standard features include a power driver's seat that moves six ways, a 4.2-inch display, Bluetooth connectivity, auxiliary audio inputs, a rearview camera, and a sound system that has a CD player.
